What is Go By Bike Month
Go By Bike Month is a city-wide campaign organized by the Halifax Cycling Coalition throughout September to get more people cycling. From commutes and errands to recreational rides, all trips count toward building a healthier, more bike-friendly Halifax.
Our Goals
Build public awareness of cycling as a social good
Show that cycling is for everyone, across ages and backgrounds
Generate data to support future cycling infrastructure in HRM
How it Works
Go By Bike Month runs on one simple idea: ride (more) in September and logthose rides. There are a few ways to do that.
If you connect Cycling Guide, Strava, or Ride with GPS to your Go By Bike profile, your rides will sync automatically. If you do not use any of these apps,you can log each ride manually by entering the date and distance in kilometres.
Cycling Guide is a free app for finding low-stress cycling routes in Halifax. We are partnering with the Cycling Guide Foundation to bring Go By Bike Month to their app and track distance for participants.

Event Information: MacKenzie Greenwell, Tap Dancer (Halifax/Kjipuktuk, NS) Nova Sinfonia Orchestral Society presents the first concert in its 2026-27 season on Monday, September 21 at 7:30 p.m. at Halifax United Church (formerly St. Andrew’s), 6036 Coburg Road. MacKenzie Greenwell Taps Into Nova Sinfonia presents blues, jazz, tap-inspired favourites and orchestral classics, featuring guest artist Halifax tap-dancer MacKenzie Greenwell, under the direction of conductor Christopher Palmer. The concert features music by Mozart, Handel, Gershwin and others, including Palmer’s own piece, From the Delta to Chicago. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for under 30s, and are available from novasinfonia.ca and at the door. There will be an open dress rehearsal on Sunday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m. for anyone who can’t make Monday’s performance. Admittance to dress rehearsal is by freewill donation

Join The Villains Theatre for a free outdoor theatre play that moves through music, memory, and magic to teach us about what we can see from our tiny place in the universe. ‘A Beginner’s Guide to the Night Sky’ introduces us to Léo, a young nonbinary person, who invites us into their mother’s observational astronomy class. The effervescent and unabashed Albertine tells us about the stars through music, metaphor, and story, teaching us songs to sing along with her and enthusiastically showing us the universe from her perspective. Inviting the audience to enjoy the night sky, learn about the universe, and sing a capella songs together, this play is an hour-long piece of queer magic that is heartbreaking, uplifting, and full of joy. The Navy Divers continue to support Christmas Daddies with a 50 K Run
The 44th Annual Christmas Daddies Navy Divers fundraising campaign to help less fortunate children in the Maritime Provinces have a better holiday season, has begun.
Members of the Fleet Diving Unit (Atlantic) also known as the NAVY DIVERS, will be raising funds in support of children in need this holiday season with a 50 K RUN and the public is invited to join in on the tradition!
